Is there a way to kill/treat it without ruining an otherwise beautiful lawn?

Put on a glove and rub straight roundup onto the leaves. It will kill it and probably leave a small indentation in the yard. Fill in with some soil and the St Aug will run and fill in the bare spot

Shovel. Dirt. 1 piece of sod.

Agree. Manual method.

Or wait after a rain and use a weed tool. it takes a little more muscle, but you might not need any sod to repair.
