Look for an Air B&B or VRBO in the Terlingua or Lajitas area. There are no hotels there other than the Lajitas Resort, but it's pricey. The nearest mid-sized town from Big Bend is Marfa or Alpine, TX where you may find a hotel, but that's 1 hour 30 mins from Big Bend. Also, get groceries and alcohol in those 2 towns because those things are very expensive once you get in the Big Bend area. There is only one small grocery store.
The open range down there is vast and it will feel like you are driving forever, but the views once you get down there are spectacular. Also, besides Big Bend Nation Park there is Big Bend State Park with HWY 170 providing a very scenic drive. We took it all the way from Terlingua to Presidio.
