Could you imagine the mental gymnastics Dickie V would have to do?

Drew also doesn’t have to win at Baylor to stay on.

he doesn't have to make elite 8 every year.
he does have to win.

Indiana has to compete for championships.

big ten is very good. its not easy.
you better recruit your mr Indiana and poach a mr New Jersey or Pennsylvania.

just x and o is not nearly enough when michigan and ohio state kick your butt up and down the floor.
and now Illinois is competing.
and Wisconsin and Iowa always compete.
big ten hoops is analogous to sec football.

He's paid more at Baylor than Miller was at IU

IU is just another B10 school now

4 Sweet Sixteens in the last 25 seasons says it all

Gonna poach Nate Oates from Alabama. Basketball is secondary there and I’d expect that Indiana is willing to offer him

Not going to happen.

So I just watched the Jeff Goodman and Robbie Hummel podcast from a few weeks ago where they had Nate Oats as the guest. A story he told that I haven't heard him tell before is the process he went through before deciding to take the Alabama job and about his thoughts on being at a "football" school. He said the night before he accepted it he called guys like Mark Few and Brad Stevens since they were two guys that had turned down bigger jobs to stay at a "mid-major" schools, partly because he hoped they would talk him out of taking it and convincing him to stay at Buffalo because he and his family loved it there. He said that Brad Stevens told him that if he were to come back to college in the future he would likely take a job at a "football" school so he could just focus on his job as the basketball coach and not be the face of the athletic program. That is part of what convinced him to come to Alabama. He had way more resources than he had ever had and yet he still could operate somewhat away from the spotlight.

I guess it is also a look at what Stevens will look for if he does decide to leave the NBA.
