Who are the publicly traded power generation and distribution companies in Texas, specifically the Houston, Dallas / Ft. Worth and Austin regions?

Hoping to save myself some research time by asking the board.

Trying to reposition a percentage of my portfolio around the following:

-TX having about 5 of the top 10 fastest growing cities in the US. I don't see this slowing down in the 5 year time frame.
-favorable government/business regulation climate as compared to other regions in the US
-electrification of transportation in a geographically large state with independent minded populace

I already have a position in NRG. Trying get a clear picture of who provides power where and how.

Entergy in north Houston. In the woodlands they’re the only provider. They also provide power for Beaumont I think.

I’d take a look at Sempra. They own a majority stake in Oncor. Oncor owns much of the Transmission grid in Texas. Texas will be under pressure to interconnect its grid with neighboring states after “being an island” worked out so horribly for them this winter. That means Oncor will get approved to expand their transmission grid at a guaranteed rate of return that all users of the grid pay for.

Of course, Sempra owns a lot more than just Oncor, so you’d also want to be comfortable with their other businesses. They own Cameron LNG and a number of utilities in California focused on distribution and transmission and not generation, which is good because there’s less technological risk.

Entergy’s stock is very sexy right now in my opinion. 4% dividend + their rate base will be growing so you’ll probably get some dividend and earnings growth + a very low PE relative to most everything else.

You lost, baw. You've had over 15 minutes and couldn't do it.

Sharpen up those google skills and when you're done with that I'd suggest brushing up on those internet message board politeness skills too.

Your low effort post is making this board worse.

Theres a handful of utilities you can invest in texas and you cant spend the minute or so to find them, list them, then have a discussion about them?
Instead you just demand others to do trivial research for you

Hey man, with all the ridiculous penny stock posts on this board recently, I welcome any posts about actual sustainable enterprises. I’ve seen Douglas post enough to know there was probably some nuance behind his question (which is why I figured there was a particular exposure he was looking for). That type information is not easily Googleable (can’t believe I just used that ridiculous “word”).
