We just got back from Turks and Caicos. Our resort tested us (instant test) a couple of days before departure. Our certificate was only verified at check in for our flight with no further verification at customs.
Had to get tested 5 days in advance of travel to TC with a molecular test. Also had to fill out a lengthy form and pay like $10 per person per day for some BS insurance product. Lots of scrutiny over documents at T&C customs.
All in all it was worth it. Really just a little added expense and prep time

That insurance is your only insurance if you get ill or injured on the island. Your US insurance policy isn't worth squat outside of the US.
You can call it BS but if you'd broken a leg you would have coverage unless it was a COVID only policy.
