QB Armanti Edawrds says they're ready for anything LSU throws at them. They did it to Michigan, one of the premier programs in college football history, last year. If they do it this year, will that be a bigger upset than at Michigan last year?

Yes, it will be a bigger upset than at Michigan last year. But it will not be as big of an upset as Stanford beating USC last year.

Last time I checked it's the present and Michigan has been getting raped by tOSU pretty much every year, and they also were pretty average last year. The fact they beat Michigan last year gives them that much less of a chance to beat us because a) We will not overlook them and b) they took an "us against the world" mentality last year whereas this year they honestly think they can beat us. If we only win by 17 I wouldn't be surprised, but we could EASILY win by 35 also...

Not in terms of spreads where you can find them or how Michigan was regarded going into 2007 as compared to how LSU is regarded going into 2008.
If you go by LINK the line is LSU by 24.5. Last year Michigan was favored over App State by 29 (I think). Something like that. Certainly more than 24.5.
And Michigan was rated higher in the polls this year than LSU is this year.
Of course one might say it'd be a bigger upset because App did beat Michigan last year so it isn't going to sneak up on anybody.
But App did overcome a bigger spread and beat a team last year that was ranked higher going in than LSU is this year.

I think it would be a comparable upset, and yes App beating SCUM is way bigger than USC's loss. If I remember, they didn't even put a spread up because it wasn't 2 FBS teams playing or whatever

They are also 6-1 against the SEC overall, 5-1 against the SEC in Bowl games, and 1-0 against SEC champions during the BCS era (1998-last season). And they beat Florida worse in their bowl game last year than the score suggested. They put up over 500 yards of offense and won in spite of committing 4 turnovers to Florida's 0.

They will need to be ready. I went to look at there roster. Their DL averages about 260 lbs./man. I just don't think they can withstand the match up on the line. They apparently had a speed edge on Michigan that won't be present here. They won't sneak up on us due to the Michigan game. There OL is also small -- clear mismatch their. Also they only have 13 seniors balanced with 45 freshman. They return only 5 starters on offense and 7 on defense. There will be no upset unless Stanford plays USC again.

That was also the hardest and most effort they played with all year last year. That was a statement game for them and their outgoing coach, and they only one by one possession against the 5th ranked SEC team. 2nd ranked in one conference barely beating the 5th in the best they played all year, yep they were pretty average last year.

You know who was ready to play last year? These guys:

C'mon man. I'm sure you watched LSU play Florida at home. LSU had a +1 advantage in the turnover margin stat in that game and still barely won in a white knuckler. Michigan was playing Florida in the State of Florida and beat them in spite of a -4 in the turnover margin stat.
Give credit where credit is due. Florida was a team capable of beating anybody in the SEC and Michigan beat them in spite of having 4 turnovers to Florida's 0. They were a whole lot better than an "average" I-A/FBS team.
As I've said in another thread, they had as many players drafted last year (6) as LSU did. They had horses.

And you need to recognize the validity of the point. When one team beats another in spite of a -4 in the turnover margin stat, that pretty much implies that the winner has to have pretty much dominated in the other phases of the game.
I don't think, for instance, that LSU could've beaten Ohio State under such circumstances. Very unlikely. But LSU was +2 in that game. And they won in spite of being outgained in yardage. It matters.

LSU lost last year to Kentucky and Arkansas. Can you name the opponents that App State lost to?
I'll shut up and listen.

Yeah I also saw UF and Michigan play a few games last year, and that was by far Michigans best game. Aside from Tebow and Harvin, no one on UF stepped up. For Michigan that was the best Hart and their entire passing game played all year. Michigan played possessed, despite 4 turnovers which you are all so keen to point out over and over and over again.
I give credit to Michigan, they played better than UF and seemed to want the victory more.
