We just beat the Ender Dragon

My boy (11yo) was ate up with Minecraft. He has been for years. Most of the time, he just played around in creative and built stuff. Since the hurricane and his mom’s and my divorce, we started a new survival world.
Weeknights, I did most of the heavy lifting. I found the different biome, supplies, built xp machines, collected, mined, etc, so that when he comes on my weekends, we could adventure.
We finally killed the ender dragon today and got the egg.
We went back to the end and went to an ender forest(?), but a mob of endermen killed me. Stupid me, I was still carrying the egg and all my diamond armor. My boy scooped it all up and brought it back to the over world so all is good.
So what now? Do we just work our way through the achievements? How do We get an elytra, shucker boxes, and whatever else I can get to impress my boy?

I have zero clue what anything you typed means but sounds awesome to do with your son. I am sure with the divorce this is a really important time for you to be having a cool thing like this to bond with your son.

I think Elytra's our out on End Ships but don't quote me on that.
I tend to do modded Minecraft when I want to spend some time playing Minecraft.
I do miss the Gaming Board server though (well the one I was here for; I think there have been several).

You need to find an End City, there you will get shulker boxes. To do it, you need to kill the Shulkers, they are the things that look like boxes that open and shoot you with stuff that makes you float. I suggest getting feather falling on your boots before you go. They will teleport if you hit them too many times without killing them. Hitting them while open is best chance to get Shulker parts.
If you find an End City with a ship, the Elytra will be in the belly of that ship. If the End City does not have a ship, you just have to keep searching which is a pain in the End.
Beating the Ender Dragon is cool, but beating the Wither to me is more of an achievement. It is not that the Wither is harder, it is actually pretty easy if you spawn it underground. It is takes so much time to get the stuff to spawn the Wither.
Beat the wither though and you can make a Beacon. My son and I just did the fully powered beacon acheivement, which is a ton of freaking iron. Like 1476 pieces of iron.
If you get tired of searching in the End for end citys , just make a creative copy of your world and fly around and write down the coordinates. Then go back to survival. Yeah it is cheating, but frick it. I hate the End and all them dang islands.

No advice, just want to say that is actually a cool story, bro. I enjoyed reading it. That's a bigger accomplishment than I got in games as a kid.

Kill the Wither next
Or try doing speedruns. I've been having fun lately trying those. Throwing god seeds where everything is easily found can be good for a laugh or rage. Or both.

This is the way!!! I am too old to wonder around.
This might not help you now, but if pop your seed in https://mineatlas.com/ it will give you a general lay of the land.
Other cool things to do is get your red stone builds going. I have probably watched way too much Mumbo Jumbo on youtube.

I built a wood burning stove XP machine. I keep it loaded with wood and fills itself with charcoal. I can run by it and grab a piece of coal out of it and get to 50xp in less than 5 minutes.
