You keep mentioning hotels and all having hidden fees, however, I've never experienced those hidden fees being almost half the cost of a place I was staying.
I know plenty of hotels in New Orleans put the parking in the fine print and it becomes a daily rate usually between 20-50 a day, however, I've never seen as many things I think are outrageous as I have recently with VRBO and Airbnb. It has become cheaper to book with hotels.

Some examples that set me off

The service fee is a VRBO fee paid directly to VRBO, airbnb is no different and actually higher fees. Sales tax is the same rate for hotels and vacation rentals generally.

I don’t disagree with you guys. I don’t disagree with sites like Expedia and airlines being shitty on pricing either. I’m just explaining that’s the booking engine’s policies and not the hosts.

It would be fairly easy for the platforms to have you put in your dates and other requirements and spit out an all in total price, that’s on them. I agree.
