I'm sure that throughout our nation's history there have been countless laws that were passed by virtue of votes of Congressmen who drew directly from their belief in and understanding of God's will in the process of determining how they should vote. So no doubt, in one way or another the concept of "God's will" has been a significant factor in a great deal of federal legislation.
Of course that's approaching it a little differently, but IMO relevant nonetheless.
