Just treat them how you’d want to be treated. Honesty and sincerity are the best policy. Even the “bridge I burned” really wasn’t a bridge burning since I never worked for them and was polite, but they definitely probably won’t fly me up on an interview on their dime and certainly not for an all day interview. I think the later was more the case and they probably told the other candidates running for the position they didn’t get the job at the point I was doing my final interview with them. I was pretty confident going up there for an all day interview was merely a formality (which it really was), so I was surprised I didn’t get the offer at the end of the day. 3 people were at the interview, so I don’t blame them for being slightly pissed about me not accepting the job. That being said if they offered me the job that day, I would have signed the paper there, refuse my current position saying that I just signed onto another job, and my life would be completely different and likely more miserable than it is now. I’m pretty fricking confident that I would have been laid off due to this pandemic if I went there.
