Black folk have a history of claiming “native” heritage and history. See the Lumbee “tribe” in NC.

Melungeons too. They always claimed to be Indian (or even Portuguese or Turkish), but DNA has since proved they were free blacks who married whites here and there. DNA studies have found very little if any Indian DNA.

So the next time you see a Mulungeon claiming they're Indian, just tell them this. "So you're Mulungeon, huh? Well I do a lot of reading, I like history and such. I find that shite fascinating. Well here's a fact, I don't know if you know or not..."
