Even if you have the plug on neutral type panel you should still be able to use that arc fault breaker that has the neutral attached to it. Just plug the breaker in on the bus and attach the wire to the neutral bar.
I have never actually had to do this but logic tells me that it should still work.

I agree with you, but my recollection is that there is no neutral bar on the panel. Unfortunately I didn't take photos when I had it taken apart. I guess I'll just have to take it a part again and take photos.
I guess the other thought is that when the breaker trips all I do is reset the breaker and everything works. In other words, the breaker doesn't trip again after I reset it. The computer boots up fine on UPS until I flip the breaker switch to restore full power. Seems like if there was really an issue it would trip again...?

This is correct. You can use the old breakers in the new panels but not the other way around
