I’m not a big PM fan and it wouldn’t upset me if LSU went in another direction. Fact is, the game today is quite different than when Bertman invented Gorilla ball. The whole bat and ball specification from several years ago probably affected LSU more so than some other schools as it basically mandated that LSU learn how to recruit players that could play “small ball”. PM basically likes to recruit SS at almost every position.
Then when teams at the CWS had several years of only hitting a handful of home runs during the entire CWS they changed the ball again and lowered the seems on the ball. That last change they made actually lens itself to more to helping the hitters. It created more hits off the wall and allowed more home runs. I think LSU has been slow to adjust to all of the changes to the bats and balls. Those changes changed the college game. If forced teams to adjust. I think LSU adjusted poorly in terms of how it reacted to those changes.
