I do find the criticism funny when all we do is cry and complain for something more "original", they do something different, and then people like the OP melt all the way down over it.

How is rehashing an IP that has already been rehashed twice already in live action doing something different? Wouldn't doing something different mean, you know...actually doing something DIFFERENT?

It's as if Disney has no ability or desire to create anything new. Yes...it's clearly a money grab based on nostalgia, regardless of whether they are going to tweak the story a bit this time around.

Take a look at a list of Disney movies from Snow White until today and remove Pixar from the mix. Then focus on 2000 or so and see how many sequels or remakes there have been since then versus what they did prior to 2000. It's hilarious to see how they've shifted from creativity and the creation of new stories and characters to mining old IP, or simply buying the IP of others and mining that.

And yet parents willingly go out and buy Lion King 14 (straight to DVD or Disney+ these days) to perpetuate that.

Disney knows what makes them money.

work smarter, not harder

its cheap and easy to mine old IP and if it still makes money, why wouldn't you do it?

I get the frustration, but if people keep eating this stuff up, Disney isn't going to stop
