It isnt genetics that makes someone fat.

To some extent, yes, it is.

If your people, for generations upon generations grew up surviving on little food whatsoever, then the fittest survived by being able to have the slowest metabolism, because that gave the best odds of reproduction. When that culture is suddenly exposed to an abundance, the genetics passed down will dictate that, on average, that genetic group gets fatter.

It's not racist. It's genetics. And it's how God ensured we'd survive. And it's one of the interesting wrinkles that this world has given us to deal with.

I've known people skinny as a rail who have to take diabetes medication or blood thinners because their body can't properly process the food they eat, and even though they're skinny, they have high blood pressure or clogged arteries. I've known fat folks who could pass stress tests and don't have high blood pressure.

I myself do better on a mostly protein diet. Carbs frick me up, and I gain more weight with more carbs. Fat's and proteins, given the same caloric intake, are better for me maintaining a weight that I want.

I routinely stand behind 1-2 obese black females in line at the grocery check out counter. Their carts are over flowing with crappy, horribly unhealthy foods & sugar loaded drinks. Not hard to connect the dots.
