Science is a crapshoot getting refined. At one point we were all putting leaches on our bodies because the smartest of our day though that it would get the “bad blood” out. We should never relinquish rights over something a scientist says until the scientific method is fully realized. And especially when we have a 100 years of scientific viral research that shouldn’t just be thrown out.

The disturbing part is the idea that there needs to be "scientific consensus" and consensus is absolutely a good thing, combined with media, social media, politicians, and "actual" scientists trying to silence legitimate opposing scientific opinions because they don't conform to the current groupthink.
You've got actual scientists being shouted down as quacks (Atlas, Kulldorf, etc.) and a freaking MBA being held up as Biden's expert (Andy Slavitt).
