Met an Italian guy from Brooklyn who ran a restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale about 20 yrs ago. He claimed it was really his uncle's place and he was just looking after it. He looked, talked, and acted the part. Maybe legit, maybe not.
Had a buddy who departed the French Quarter late one night with a chick and ended going to, and getting left by said chick, at some restaurant on the Westbank. He said it was mostly deserted but for a group of old men at a table in back. They had accents and were sitting around smoking cigars and didn't seem wild about the intrusion. Always wondered if this wasn't one of the old Marcello hangouts.
Had dinner once at Umberto's Clam House in Manhattan. I believe it's where Crazy Joey Gallo met his demise.
