This thread reminds me of a joke Judge Politz (then chief judge, 5th U.S. Circuit) told at LSU Law School for some lecture/talk.

He was talking about a discussion with his law partner when still in practice. The question posed: "Is it legal for a man to marry his brother's widow?" After pondering and looking in the civil code at a few articles, "We have to be able to figure this out. I mean, they do it in Napoleonville all the time."

Funnier with the Cajun accent, but you get the point.
