Instead of saddling kids with mountains of debt for useless degrees, the student loan program should be helping kids in trade schools. Guaranteed in my county HVAC/plumber/electrician types are making more money than most lawyers their same age the first 5 years out of law school.

Or, better yet, stop cutting the budgets of Career Tech/Vocational Schools at the high school level. Start encouraging students to take those courses and destigmatize choosing that route. You have people who are needing workers and are willing to teach them. You have kids needing work and/or a career.

Hell, I had a friend in high school who had multiple certifications in computer tech (I'm not sure what they called it) before he graduated high school which didn't cost him a dime. He also won state and placed in national competitions that got him a scholarship that paid for his Associates degree and other certs he needed/wanted.

The same can be obtained for numerous fields, but we are too focused on pushing everyone into Advanded Diploma programs in high school that don't amount to shite for the large majority of students. At the same time, Career Tech is looked down on by many teachers and guidance counselors and viewed as an afterthought or waste of time and money by others.
