Mercury gets some undeserved skepticism for reliability, carried over from the old days when everybody knew somebody who had a mercury spit pieces out. The new stuff is great. I rode on a 38 yellowfin with trip 350 verandos that had nearing 4000 hours on all 3 original powerheads.
