I had C3-C5 in my neck fused. Happened in Dec. 2002. Watched LSU beat OU with a neck brace on. Literally ZERO issues since it healed.
I know folks who have had lumbar fusions. Those are the ones that seem to cause issues. Post-surgical therapy is crucial.
DO WHAT YOUR SURGEON/THERAPISTS TELL YOU TO DO.

I had the disks replaced between C4 and C6. Much, much better procedure than a fusion. Went under at 8am, I was walking out the door at noon. No neck brace, no physical therapy, nothing. Just a small incision on the front of my neck that you can't even see anymore unless you look close.
