Cregg got the job in December of 2017. So I think it is fair to say his first recruiting class was 2019
LSU signed 4 OL in that class (5 if you want to say Ray Parker would have been moved to OL). On paper the class looked pretty good. Two season later it looks awful.
Thomas and Bradford couldn't sniff the field last season despite the OL clearly having some struggles and some injuries/suspensions popping up during the season. Turner still looks too small to play...as many thought he would be when LSU signed him and Perry just looks like he's here to wear the uniform...not actually play. Parker was kicked off the team. Thus, it is VERY possible that 2019 haul will be a complete bust.
In 2020 he signed 3 guys. The jury is still out on all of them...which is fair.
In recruiting the 2021 class LSU HAD to know the 2019 OL class may not be looking all that promising, right? Still, they were only able to sign 2 OL. I agree that LSU appears to have been saved (in the short term) by the fact that all 5 starters from last year are returning. But I can't imagine they were EXPECTING that to be the case during the recruitment period.
LSU is almost certainly going to lose 3 starters after next year. They very well may lose all 5. I would say there is cause for concern after next season...unless you are expecting one or more true freshmen to come in and start...which is a big ask.

They will need transfers next year to play immediately. May have to take 6-7 total players.

I think you’re prematurely judge the 2019 class
Say what you want they’re Sophmores.
People expect immediate results and that’s not always the case.
