Spain’s tax laws are pretty gay

It’s like a right of passage for elite players there to get tried for tax evasion

Especially non-Spaniards. They tax expats at an even higher rate than citizens.

Actually Messi was supposed to be sentenced for tax evasion but they reduced it to a fine.

Too funny!

A very, very rough estimate is that he’s be able to pocket around 48% of his earnings.

I’m sure he has some accountants working things to his favor, but if he did everything straight up Spain’s income tax rate for his earning is around 52%, give or take. That doesn’t include any regional or local taxes.
