Thanks for the responses. Yes if it sits a while it won’t start. I pour a little gas on a rag and put it near the intake and then it runs great even without the gas rag. I guess I need to do a thorough check. First thing I’ll do is clean the carb with some wire. I didn’t realize it could have a carb problem and still run normally after I get it started.

ETA: Come to think of it, it’s always had this problem but would eventually start after cranking for 15 or 20 seconds. Maybe it is a suction problem.

What Rando said plus the “impulse” line from the pump to the valve cover.

Sounds more like an air issue than a fuel issue...imho
