Perhaps Wiley and others should stop looking at a person's skin color to divide. Why do so many people separate the people by color ?
As many have said, the more you talk about the race, the more racial divide you create...
All the race stuff needs to stop! No one should be held above others and no one should be held less than others, which I think was the way everything was set up. Of course, now they are trying to push certain minorities to have a more favobable status than others, especially over whites, which is just reverse discrimmination...

Man, sometimes yall have to realize what age group you are dealing with. These are college aged kids. They have no ill will. College kids have a lot of stupid idea and don't really understand the "politics" behind doing something.
But of course there is someone on this board who thinks this is the left trying to take over and force everyone to have to learn what they think people should learn, etc.

Like I explained. College kids being college kids. Its not even going to be a thing. But knock yourself out getting worked up about it.

I was unaware students were part of the faculty senate, but maybe things have changed since I was at LSU.

Can someone point to an example of what he is talking about here in regards to anti-blackness at LSU?
Refusing to bend the knee and wash feet is "anti-blackness."

Finally some good on this earth occurs.

If you honestly think this is just a case of college kids being college kids, you are extremely naive. Ever consider that there are university professors pushing their leftist agenda on these "kids"? Outside agitators with access to these "kids"? That they prepared all the official paperwork to present this to the faculty committee on their own? Sorry, there are too many examples across the country that disproves your excuse. This is exactly the kind of shite people should get worked up about, as the left is taking its campaign rhetoric into realty now.

quote:I don't think there is. Just a program within the department of sociology.
Why is there an entire AAAS department? Shouldn’t that just be in the social sciences department?

I think this course requirement would be just fine for degree programs that would benefit from it, but not all degree programs like they were/are trying to do. This would be fine for African American studies and other sociology type degrees.
This has no business being a requirement for all LSU degrees. This course would provide no enhancement whatsoever to a degree in engineering, agriculture, math, and a long list of others. What's next, require a Viking culture course for everyone, or require everyone to take thermodynamics? I could see a music major being forced to take engineering courses. It probably wouldn't work out so well.
It's as if they keep trying to recreate LSU into an HBCU. Requiring everyone at an HBCU to take this AAAS course is just fine in my opinion, but not at a non-HBCU. Instead of trying to turn LSU into an HBCU, wouldn't it just be easier and more effective to attend an HBCU for those that are seeking that college learning experience?
The bottom line is what I've seen others say: Woke LSU sucks!
