Ok. Does that somehow make America’s history of slavery OK to you???

The point is that America is persistently described as an oppressive place to live. That we are in dire need of social justice. That we are infected with "whiteness" and that BIPOCs are under constant threat of annihilation. That our economic system was intentionally structure to reinforce white people. That we need a systemic overhaul. That we are uncultured, uncouth, and immoral. That our history books need to be erased and rewritten. That our educational system needs to be used to reprogram nearly half of the country's population.

But the fact remains and will remain for a long time that people of color around the globe perpetuate absolutely vile, disgusting, and oppressive regimes compared to first world Western nations that were founded by white people. Everything you read about what's bad in America can be found in exponentially worse forms in countries around the world.

I'll never understand why people are so defensive about teaching nuanced American history. Criticizing institutions like slavery and the genocide of native Americans is an important component to being an informed American citizen.
