My group chat had this discussion a few months ago during cancel culture 101 (friends, political viewpoints on both sides). I personally don't like dealing with politics, so I stayed out of it but this was what was interesting.
Side A said, in regards to kids being expelled, life ruined, etc over social media posts like this that it was justified and people like that deserve it, etc. That the public should know their shame and make the judgement to 'cancel' them for being dispicable human beings.
Side B argued, well I think canceling a teenager for such things is stupid. They are children, it ruins their life. they deserve punishment but to ruin any potential chance of a job, career, education, etc over something like that is ridiculous.
Side A argues: serves them right.
Now onto the other topic: prison and offenders
Side A argues that prisoners (murders, dealers, rapists, burglaries, etc) all deserve a chance of reform. They don't deserve to have their entire LIVES ruined and stay incarcerated with no chance of improving their chance once they get out (getting a good job with a felony, etc)
Side B retorts, they committed the crimes and they deserve what came to them. they knew their actions, they knew the consequences. Someone's livelihood was take, family member/friend was killed, etc.
Side A argues: it doesn't mean they can't improve.
I just thought it was interesting that both sides sound the same, just depends on what they want to be the champion for.

Except the liberal side is wrong. Prisoners broke the law this teenage girl or any girl/guy that says idiotic shite didn’t break the law. The n word while it is vile is not against the law. They lose their argument.

There is a significant difference in laws and opinions. You violate a law such as a felony you deserve what you get. Opinions can be expressed openly and there can be consequences. However, we have this thing called the 1st Amendment. I may not like what people have to say but it is there right to say it. However, this cancel culture should not be the norm. I mean for God sake they tried to cancel Rouses because the CEO went to Trump’s rally in DC.....Did anyone cancel the people who went to BLM protests that turned into riots. See how that doesn’t seem fair? Lastly there is a difference between an adult and a child.

You are comparing a child using a bad word to murders, dealers, rapists, burglaries.
