Honestly....how do you defend the 3 point line?? And why didnt we?

Cue the “We are who we thought they were” rant here. I mean...we KNEW this is what Bama does...they shoot 3s. Why did we not Defend the 3 point shot? Technically speaking, why is this hard to do?? Just stick to your man and get in his face. Geez!

At some point, you have to decide as a defender that this guy across from me isn’t going to keep beating me. I’d gladly give up offensive production for better defense.

Our offensive-minded players won't defend. If you play back, they shoot over you. You play up, they penetrate, collapse the D, and dish. This was OK when we had EW and KBW.
It's a simple game - move your feet and keep yourself between your man and the goal. Our guys just won't do it.

Will Wade is the winningest coach in LSU modern basketball history. Go back to 1923 to find a coach with a better win percentage.
I'll stop acting like he's our John Wooden when you stop acting like he's some kind of fricking fraud coach.
It's the reason why people don't take your takes seriously. There is valid criticism and then acting like an arse like you, Pirate King, ipodking, etc. You dumbasses can't acknowledge what Will Wade has brought to LSU. We were the worst team in school history before he came and brought us to life.

Well, he at least won an SEC title and brought LSU one of their best seasons ever.
Wade gets overly worshipped here, but LSU has been statistically better against the 3 this year. Tonight was a complete disaster though. Wade isn't the best with in-game adjustments. He is usually best with planning before the game. Tonight the plan got shot to hell early with Bama hitting everything. Still, LSU does have a tendency not to want to extend beyond the 3-point line to defend the 3 on a lot of possessions. You can't do that against Bama. You have to be all over them everywhere they go.
However, Bama looked 3x faster than LSU, so even that didn't seem possible.

What makes Bama hard to defend is they can beat you off the dribble, at any position. Then, the defense has to help, or give up a layup. Some teams give up the layup, others help. In the latter case, Bama sprays the ball back out to the perimeter to one of the other 3pt shooters whose defender sucked in. Oats noted before the game that lsu likes to help. Five guys that can drive and shoot. It's simple, but pretty difficult to defend.

This would be the 1st time in like 30 years that we make the NCAA tournament 3 times in a row if it weren't for the Coronavirus.
