Didn't Freeman and Nielsen agree to take the job but the contract couldn't be completed due to getting outbid or some contractual obstacle?

Seriously doubt we were outbid on Freeman by Notre Dame. We pay more than they do for every thing and every one.
Freeman also said yes to us, told his former players he was going to LSU, and didn't give away that he was leveraging us at all. So we didn't really have a chance to fight back when we thought it was over. Woodward was not going to let money stop us from getting Freeman. He was their #1. He just chose a more stable head coach in a part of the country he already lives in.
