never drove through on the old 2 lane during high water? They would put stakes every 50 feet or so at the edge of the pavement from Sicily Island toward Foules, so you could find the roadway when it was under water. Sicily Island stays dry while surrounded by backwater.

drove it to visit family in baton rouge from 1965 to 1978, then moved from WM to BR. drove it to visit WM folks until parents died and brother moved in 2018.
