What? Their leverage is they have him under contract for 5 more years. They already suck. If he sits out they get to keep sucking while saving about $40 million/year. They ain’t trading him to avoid the stick. Somebody’s gonna have to pony up a nice fricking juicy carrot. Or they just keep him.

Yeah except....professional teams literally never do that. Look at the James Harden situation. The teams don’t want the distraction to linger. He’ll many inside that organization already feel a trade is inevitable.
