A certain segment of society that's pretty vocal about "following the science" claims there are no negative effects to children when they are raised by same-sex couples (not that theres anything wrong with that). Puzzling that they can know the long term effects of a relatively new phenomena.
However, psychologists/psychiatrists like Freud, Jung, and Winnicot point to the primary relationship of the child with the opposite sex parent as determining the success or failure of their future relationships.
I suppose they'd say that that was outdated science. Brings me to my other point that those same people believe that whatever science they know at this very moment in time "is settled"
