Hasn't been mentioned but put a Trijicon Credo 2.5-15-42 on my Savage Ultralight for hunting last season. It's as clear as a VX5 and has illum reticle for $900. It is their new hunting scope line and been very impressed. I killed a deer at 300 yards no problem in January.

Also check the weight and lengths of these scopes before you buy. Some are really big and heavy.
