Ocean Isle NC had a bad one not long ago
same thing.....guy put gas in rod holder and someone suggested disconnecting the battery....that was the actual spark that ignited the gas.

There is one on YouTube which I can’t find, boat is in the water moored to a dock, the guy is also filling the rod holder when something sets off the gas. There is a huge fireball, the top cap of the boat is blown off the hull, when it returns to earth it narrowly missed the guy on the dock.
