Yep I was in the more sports thread last night during the game and in a conversation with screws

Trust me we(LSU Fans) all want Ohio State to win

So you think Alabama winning tonight doesn’t hurt LSU in recruiting? Come on man

We won’t beat them in recruiting until Saban retires

There's no logic in rooting for LSU either. It has nothing to do with logic. Our lives are not materially changed by any of this.
A lot of us older guys root for Bama in these situations (or Georgia, Florida, etc.) because when we grew up the south was very disrespected in the AP polls. It infuriated us to see the northeastern and western teams overrated, so whenever a southern team played them it was a chance to stick a thumb in their eye. That old habit has stayed with us.
Also, there is an old Arab saying, "Me against my brothers; my brothers and I against the tribe; our tribe against the world. This saying describes the concentric circles of allegiance that are embedded in the human psyche.
