Stir Fry

Anyone have some quirks or things they like incorporate into a stir fry to kick it up a bit? About every other week it’s time to clean the veggie drawer, add a little protein, then make a stir fry. But being as I eat the same fresh vegs all the time, it’s been getting a bit boring.

Lots of mushrooms for me! For best selection go to an Asian market! And of course fresh ginger

I add peanuts or cashews. Also, a little brown sugar, crushed red pepper, and some Sriracha sauce, to add sweet heat to it.

Move it in a Thai direction with peanuts and fish sauce, plenty of lime juice, pinch of sugar.
Or buy some bottled peanut sauce to drizzle in at the end.

If using pork or beef thinly sliced, I'll season it with salt, pepper, garlic powder, a bit of soy sauce, a little liquid from a container of pickled ginger and then toss in a bit of corn starch and mix it up to coat it all equally.
I'll add a bit of oil to my wok and get it real hot before searing the meat then adding the vegetables to cook. As the vegetables cook I'll also add just a bit of stock, usually chicken stock and that, along with the corn starch will make a nice sauce to coat the food in the wok.
