So they knew the "angry mob" wouldnt take any lives once inside? They said screw our job, we will just let them in because we know they wont kill anyone that way? Our entire Congress was inside the building, but we just let them in to save lives?

My head hurts trying to rationalize that spin.

I'm sorry the concept is so difficult that it hurts your head. Secret Service and Capitol Police were moving everyone to safety. If the Capitol Police got over run and the invaders gained unfettered access, they could have interrupted the evacuation. By letting the invaders in slowly, and then delaying their progress inside, the evacuation was sucessful.
