Because the irretrievably corrupt ruling class (both parties) and their millions of lackeys and operatives know that the only thing they have to fear is the public abandoning the system that the politicians have already have already ruined.

They hold the capitol building up as some kind of shrine to the American way, just like crooked judges demand that the robe gives them respect.

Those who purposely commit crimes in the Capitol should be charged with treason, but the list of politicians who are overdue for that reckoning dwarfs the number of protesters exponentially.
