Mid Feb the wife and I are going to go to Boston for a long weekend (Sat - Wed).
Gonna be cold as all hell but figured we were looking for a city we both had never been to, had alot outside that we could walk to see and had a good social atmosphere. Maybe we will be snowed in our hotel all week but maybe we can walk around and freeze our asses off, know knows but for $165 RT each, we figured it was worth the shot.
Anyway, we are staying right by Fenway and looking for any casual food (lunch) recs, casual bar (afternoon recs), cocktail lounges (think after dinner, maybe dressed up) and nice dinner suggestions.
I know alot won't be open due to covid and we have a few on our radar already but looking to see if there are any diamonds in the rough not popping up on TripAdvisor or Yelp...Thanks guys

Right off the top, a couple thoughts:

2. nicholastiger is right. You really can skip the Cheers bar, it's nothing but a tourist trap. Unless you're a big fan of the show, it's really nothing to waste time on.
3. Skip YardHouse. It's a chain and nothing more than your standard sports bar.
4. Nothing against Roxannes or The Hawthorne, but if you're looking for a lounge atmosphere to have great cocktails and relax, you're just not going to beat Yvonne's. Great place to have dinner too.
I'm happy to answer any questions you have about the city, where to go/eat, what the COVID-19 restrictions are (it's a large part of my job so I can be useful here), etc.

Agreed. My favorite meal we ate up there.
Seaport is a good area to grab drinks/lunch and bop around for a couple afters if you aren't trying to knock out historical sites

Couple of my favorite things to do while I was there was walking the freedom trail with the little 3$ audio app, ice skating at frog pond, running around Harvard, mit, Charles River.
Its a little pricey (like most everything in boston) but we had an awesome lobster roll and bowl of chowder at Saltie Girl
Abitafan will steer you right. He did for us. Its a wonderful city and I plan on going back once covid dies down.

If you make it over to Harvard grab a burger at Flat Patties
Also, they have a Mike's Pastry by Harvard - not as crowed as the one on the north end.

Only one location is open now (Beacon St) and we only plan to stop in because we plan to be in that area but definitely won’t make a special trip of things change

Yes absolutely. Back Door in Somerville and Yvonnes would be my recommendations. I highly recommend you check on their reservation policies due to COVID

I’m not admonishing anyone who wants to go to Cheers. It’s entirely your trip and you should do what you enjoy! I just want to warn that it’s really just a bar with random show paraphernalia and not much beyond that.

Legal Seafoods- Northeast/Mid Atlantic Chain but pretty good
Tresca- Good Italian near downtown
Mas Bakery- Greek I believe it’s pretty cool
Faneuil Hall Marketplace- Tons of options here

It looks like for a 4 night trip the CharlieTicket weekly pass ($22.50) would be my best bet for transportation in the city?

Yes, using the T is your best bet, so getting an unlimited pass for the time you're there would be most cost effective. Otherwise it's $2.95 per ride (so $5.90 RT) per person.

At night I was planning on nice jeans, collared shirt, sweater then blue navy peacoat with brown Timberlands.
Will that work at most lounges there?
Something like this with jeans, a shaved head and a beard?

we're staying near Fenway and the only place listed in that thread thats open right now for dining is BlackBird Doughnuts
