re: Anyone ever taken an Amtrak train to anywhere?

Houston is a tough bet because the train comes every other day except certain days, and despite being the fifth biggest city and central to other big Texas and Gulf cities, the train only goes to Nola (east) and San Antonio, Tucson, an LA (westerly).

Also sleeper cars are EXPENSIVE. Otherwise you have to spend the night in an upright coach.

Maybe fly to Tucson and ride back?
