This purpose of this post is to brainstorm and share ideas of how to best play the stock market assuming Obama wins....Please stay on topic...

I'd appreciate some input on what some of you may think is the best way to take advantage of Obama winning the presidency ?

2 main points I'm intersted but please add others :

1. In the past, how quickly could a change in long term cap gains taxes actually take place once he takes office? In other words, historically, when was the sell off ? or how soon before the change did longs start selling their long term holdings ?

2. What industries/sectors do you think stand to benefit the most from Obama ? or which should we be shorting

TIA and I look forward to hearing your responses

short healthcare like a motherfricker. Probably same for defense. Otherwise, I'm not sure he'll do much differently than McCain.

I have no clue, but I doubt he can affect 08 cap gains. I would wager there will be a massive sell off if he wins in Nov, so the sooner the better.

any insight on how soon tax changes actually take place and when the market reacts ? I've never really paid attention to that sort of thing in the past

I imagine you won't see a major selloff from it, it'd be more of a slow bleed. More of a tendency to not want to sell and take gains.

Foreign car companies. Maybe alternative energy companies.

Short the hell out of Big Pharma.

Ann Coulter is an idiot who can't pass a fart without lying. What would that make one who takes her advice.
