He hasn't coached in college in almost 20 years. He'll get a DC job in the NFL.

Was never successful at any level in the NFL and had recent success in college football. Patricia has proven he's a talented NFL defensive coordinator.

Saban wasn't successful as an NFL head coach and he wasn't going to take a coordinator position in the NFL. Patricia has been a successful DC in the NFL. He can go be an NFL DC and likely get another crack at a HC gig.

Has he though? He coached under the greatest defensive mind to ever do it. His defenses at Detroit weren’t great.
