This is the same shoulder he partially dislocated last season. Miles and Co. need to limit his reps the first three games. We will need a healthy Beckwith come SEC time. I hope it holds up through the season.

Serious enough that he sat out the last scrimmage and continues to wear a green jersey at practice. While it might be cautionary, not having Beckwith on the field later in the year would be huge. Last year he played with his shoulder wrapped the last 3 games. The fact that he "re-injured" it in camp is bothersome.

i have noticed over the years that when shoulders continue to pop out... they continue to pop out (grins) he possibly now wishes he would have had off-season surgery on it

I think it is something to be worried about because we need Darry, but it could be just precautionary. I thought it was a just a stinger and now we are into this protracted green jersey thing.

From practice Monday:
quote:

The defense was working on group drills. During the "every man to the ball" drill the first team defense was Tyson Jackson and Rahim Alem at DE, Marlon Favorite and Ricky Jean-Francois at DT, Kelvin Sheppard, Perry Riley and Darry Beckwith at LB, Curtis Taylor and Harry Coleman at Safety and the Cornerbacks were Jai Eugene and Chris Hawkins.

Beckwith is always getting minor injuries and crap like this...he always bounces back within a relatively short period of time. I'm not worried.

Darry is a tough kid but he has yet to play an entire season injury free. He missed two games each of the past two years with knee problems and sat out late last year when he partially dislocated the shoulder. I'll say it again, limit Darry's reps early. Give the backups much needed game experience an save Darry's shoulder and knees for SEC games.
