Buy a 5200 or 5210 JD with a 900 hrs or so for 9k or so

Dam a 20 year old JD is more than some of the new Kubota models. Is it the best tractor ever built?

Yes, or close to it. I’ve had 3. Buy one under $11k. Run it a few years and sell it for close to what you paid. It will run a 6’ bush hog or disc or box blade. Front end loader for one will cost $$$ but will be usable on a 2wd tractor. That’s not the case on smaller compact utility tractors.

Been using tractors like that for 20 years. Been stuck twice where 4wd would have helped. Could have used a front end loader a couple dozen times but someone in the club always had one.

Piss on a little compact tractor. I’ll get more done with mine in a day and I will end up spending 10-20% of what you will over the course of time of ownership.

Whatever you buy get a Texas Agricultural Permit and shop around over there. Mostly cheaper and no sales tax.
