I have a nest and it's been great, I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the industry leaders, they are all good.
The only thing I'd look into is what smart home service you are using, We have Alexa and it works with nest.

i have 2 HVAC systems (both my old & new house)
i pulled my old school honeywell wifi units when i moved and replaced the mercury-units at the new house with them.
a couple years ago i updated these to honeywell T5s not because they were having problems but because there was a sale at amazon and i liked the way they looked.
the nice thing about honeywell (and i'm sure others do the same thing) is i get detailed email reports every month showing energy usage, comparison to last year, average temp for the months, etc. i love those reports so i'm kinda tied into honeywell now since i like the historic data.
eta i don't have any google smart devices in my house. i control these via alexa dots for the most part if i need to change the temp outside of my normal triggers and schedules.
