I was one to downvote kingbob’s plan - I agree with #1, #8 and #12 - however -
#2 will never happen - most of the blacks always vote Democrat and the stupid hippie transplants do too - hell my NOLA family voted Democrat until very recently (2008)
#3 - most of the reason people went to work for the city was the salary, job security and other ‘benefits’ - not saying it can’t be overhauled but it will be very difficult for the people who have already parked their butts there
#4 - that stuff falls with the FQ preservation/historical society - they’ve got the goods on someone bc they’ve been bitch-asses for years - to solve this problem get rid of that society (yes they overlook the permits for the FQ)
#5 - that is a state law that NOLA can’t do anything about
#6 - I’m not against legalization/decriminalization of drugs or prostitution- but it will not get rid of the black market - the people selling who have been living at the edge of the law will not become legal just to be legal - they’re not going to pay tax to the big man - this cannot be taken care of with legalization
#7 - that’s messy for many reasons - the domicile requirements have been waived for NOPD for a while - however - it drives me up the wall when I see a NOPD vehicle parked at a residence in LaPlace
#9 - this is also a statewide problem - and it’s easily 50% of the parents fault, not sure if the city could really do anything about this
#11 - this just seems like a bad idea - and where would Arabi go? That’s St. Bernard Parish
#13 - Bayou St John is a lot better now than when I was a kid - trust me lol
#14 - this would entail cooperation from Jefferson Parish and lots of bribes for their politicians
#15 - if you think the RTA is bad - that’s bc you haven’t lived in a place with a bad transit system

Places where it has been legalized don’t see much of the illegal market surviving. The black market rarely can compete with a relatively free market when legit is an option.

I live in BR. The RTA is much better than CATS, but it still has a lot of room for improvement.

Arabi was a typo. I edited it. I meant Algiers. I’m not saying it needs to leave the Parish, but it should not be run by the east bank.

Upvote for taking the time to own it and put a good response forward.
Next time, id encourage you to reply to the post...reading two very well thought out responses like yalls helps to educate us dumbasses who are too busy getting scammed on GFM or lost in redheads and cleavage.
Kudos to you both.
