When I started getting serious about dropping weight I found it easiest to break it down by the numbers.
3500 calories in 1lb of fat, meaning to lose 1lb/week you're looking at 500 calories less than you currently eat daily. At a low deficit like that, you'll never notice any drop in energy.
That's oversimplified, I know, but it makes it seem more attainable.
Weight training and HIIT helps keep your muscle mass as well as burning extra calories, I always prefer steady state cardio though.
Overall, as long as the changes you make are sustainable, losing that weight will take you no time at all, and you'll probably drop more than your original goal if you start now/at the beginning of the new year. Weight lost= more energy= more motivation to get healthier.
Coming from a former 6'2 330 and current 6'2 220, best of luck and find some enjoyment out of it!
