Would he not be instead "retiring?" And wouldn't that be what is being said? I can't imagine he ha s some major health issue and didn't tell O at least of its existence.

If that was the case why did O throw him to the wolves publicly and let everybody think he's soft. All the former players bashing him yesterday was directly because of O's "his body hurts" comment.
If there's legitimate health concerns, you'd think O covers for him and gives him a soft landing during all this blowback. "He's dealing with issues bigger than football. Great kid, great teammate, great competitor who wants to be out there". Compare that to his body hurts, he's considering opting out but we'll welcome him back.
