This 100%! To many people want to broadcast what they are all about! Its all about OPSEC, I'm not gonna make myself a target for some nut job. I have my beliefs, but I don't feel the need to stand at the top of the stairs and scream what they are to everyone.

There once was a time, not so long ago, that it was considered poor taste, or tacky, if you are from God's country (the SE US for those unfortunate enough not to be aware) to talk about sex, religion and politics in polite company. It hasn't been that long ago that people would not speak openly on such subjects unless of course they were a bore and then decent folks would distance themselves and right quick from that situation. Not so today...people today feel it important for the world to know what kind of a moron they are and will openly put all manner of tokens and totems on display, telling the world exactly what kind of moron they are. Sane, decent people see them for what they are and treat them accordingly, the same way you treat any person you meet who immediately comes off as insane or otherwise mentally impaired.

I was recently fortunate enough to return to my state of birth, Georgia, from 14 years of living among heathens in other nations and different parts of this nation. Friday morning, after the election, I was driving to get a long put off proper breakfast biscuit at a regional chain headquartered in Charlotte, NC when I happed upon a man set up at a major intersection near my current abode and marketing Donald Trump souvenirs. Having never before experienced such a thing, a person not only selling souvenirs honoring a politician but also folks there perusing the wares offered. When I noticed that there was a sign reading "CLEARANCE SALE" I could not help but pull in and take in the scene.

Man, if there was ever a crowd who had once known the maxim to remain mute in mixed company on the 3 subjects mentioned earlier this was it...and they were very much interested in breaking 2 of the 3 of this basic tenet of decent society (they were too old, to a person, to take much more than a memorable stroll down the lane of discussing sex). They were buying flags and yard signs and T shirts and hats, even though most already had on one or both which would readily identify them as someone silly enough to buy such a thing commemorating a politician...and hauling that gear away from there in a hurry.

I stuck around until there was a lull in the activity and struck up a conversation with the proprietor. I mentioned what a shame it was that his booming business would soon be coming to an end given recent events....to which he responded "ain't no shame in it....I voted against the bastard both times.....". I was, to say the least, surprised by this revelation but he assured me he had indeed done so and was glad, in his words, to "see the bastard go". Of course this lead to further discussion, our being like minded individuals and no longer in mixed company, and I got around to enquiring how he squared the circle buying licensed products and reselling them....surely he had contributed to the Trump campaign (apparently he had been doing this since 2015). He said he imagined he had contributed somewhat to the campaign but made every effort to make sure the items being sold were licensed only in the most liberal sense of the word and that, as far as he knew, it all came from China and not a penny of the proceeds went to the campaign. There was nothing indicating otherwise, no kind of licensing tags or stickers...and he said no one had EVER asked in 5 years! Capitalism at its finest and in 5 years no one had asked this gentleman about any of the money going to their hero! This is why sane people do not discuss this subjects in public...cause it ain't none of nobody's damn business and it might hurt sells!

I find your belief that this board needs to constantly be graced by your bloviating, arrogant, and unnecessary posts to be fascinating.

Do you ever read these threads and think to yourself "nah, I'll just shut the frick up instead"?
