There was no lesson to learn last year. We ended up with some open spots. We’ll use those on grad transfers or jucos who will be at least as good as the guys we processed. We have recently used those spots for...
The cornerback transfer this year
Traore - a solid two deep guy
Lewis - A day one NFL starter
Burrow - The GOAT
Gaye - a solid starter at DE
Cox - a starter at LB

So, we’re doing fine.

Comparing Juco guys like Lewis and Gaye to transfers like Cox and Darren Evans is not an apples to apples comparison. The Jucos sign when the high school guys sign. You don’t “fill out your class” with jucos. They are a part of your initial class and then you fill it out with grad transfers.

Transfers are fine, but I feel very confident that 4 years of Burns would have been better than 1 or 2 of Evans, who had to be benched for a guy who was fresh off surgery in game one. That particular move was the wrong one. The trade off was not in our favor.
